Carters Steam Fair

By Hamish Gill

A few weeks ago we went down to Reading for the day to visit some family and friends. The wife is from down that way so we quite often take a day trip down there. On this occasion we decided to meet our friends at a fair that was happening in prospect park - Carters Steam Fair

I went armed with the Leica M-A and the 50mm Zeiss ZM Sonnar. I shot a roll of Fuji 400h, though I slightly regret not shooting Portra 400 for how much more vivid the colours would have been, there is something nice about how the colours have come out I think. Processed and scanned by AG as is now usual.

The chap above was a magician, he was fairly entertaining to be fair - though I am not entirely sure that Connie knew what to make of him.

A fun day out, but if you want to go on more than one ride as a family, make sure you take about £30!

Hi Hamish - it is all a matter of taste - and my colour taste says this is just right. Any more vibrant and I might not like it much. Nice set of photos. It is interesting to see your daughter growing up. One day she will tell you to put that camera where there is no light, till then she is an excellent addition to your photos!

Haha, thanks Ephem... Yes, not in so many words, she does quite often tell me to do one :)

I trust she has her own camera ... film, of course! Actually, that's an interesting question: how old is old enough for a child to have her own camera?

Connie has a digital camera and a couple of film cameras ... She's had them since she was able to pick things up. ;)
