Hartlebury Train Carriages – Cinestill 800T and 50mm Summicron

By Hamish Gill

These train carriages are parked up on a disused bit of railway line just inside the Hartlebury Trading estate near Kidderminster. Quite beautiful in their decay I think, I decided to take a few shots of them.

Taken with the Leica M4-P, Cinestill 800T and 50mm Summicron. I’ve not shot Cinestill for a while and loaded it into the camera on impulse, but I think it worked out quite nicely! As tungsten balanced film, it’s not ideally suited to shooting on a grey rainy day, but I must admit to liking the effect. The lack of anti-halation layer brings the wonderful glow to high contrast edges. Not to everyone’s taste I’m sure, but I think it amounts to a look that suits the subject!

There are a lot more photos I’ve taken with Cinestill 800T here on flickr

Cheers for looking,

Hamish

Well I think the film really suits the subject. Cracking images, you've inspired me to take a look at the engines closest to me. Bosworth battlefield line I think, and hopefully I don't chose to go on a Thomas the Tank Engine day ????????.
