I am a 44 year-old NYC-based photographer, and a proud film user since my very beginnings. About my beloved Nikon F100: It was found in Bogotá, Colombia around 5 years ago, at a “student oriented” photography shop. Maybe that is the reason for the bargain it was (US $100).
Besides a minor detached side of the rubber grip and a crack on the battery pack (already replaced), this machine is just a work horse and a precise (heavy) tank. After I took several rolls (note that this is a second hand camera), its accuracy, speed, and focus is just stunning.
The core of my work is made up of street photography, architecture and portraits, and this camera, paired with the 50 mm 1.8, never fails (if you know what you’re doing).
I understand that the F100 belongs to Nikon’s pro (semi?) camera line. You will need some guidance when navigating the menu due to the extensive list of options, but once customized, it’s pure joy.
