Scarborough – My photograph of the year 2025.

By Steviemac

This picture was one of those happy instances of being in the right place when a subject placed itself right in front of me. The Mod couple were riding along the seafront at Scarborough, and stopped in the traffic. I was able to cross to the middle of the road and grab this shot. The fact that they were clearly pleased at being ‘papped’ by a random guy with an old camera made this moment. They gave me a thumbs up after I’d taken the shot and I called out my thanks in return. Rolleiflex 2.8D and Kodak Gold 200 film.

About The Author

By Steviemac
I live in the northwest of England. I have loved photography since my teens, and have amassed a significant collection of cameras. Most were bought during the golden era when digital took to the throne, and film was yesterday's news, meaning I could buy them for little money. I photograph purely for pleasure, and I have an incurable GAS condition, for which I have resisted any and all suggestions of a cure.

What a nice coincidence, Stevie! They should have stopped to give you their email address so you could send them the picture or - better even - a print of it!

In many cases I do, however this was such a brief interaction that the opportunity never arose. Still, you never know, they may get to see it. Stranger things have happened.

Great shot Stevie! I've often found that the best shots are those that are discovered, that come up in the spur of the moment, rather than planned ahead of time. And I think this is a perfect example of, when everything aligns, the outcome is sublime. Looking forward to more of your work in the new year!
