A longtime photography enthusiast but not a particularly good photographer, I've been collecting camera gear since 1988 in Montreal when I handled a Zeiss Icon Contessa with such zeal that I ran out to the established camera shop on Metcalfe Street and got the Zeiss Contaflex I could afford. Which proved a great first camera. Now I'm back in Mobile, Alabama, thinking about which cameras deserve my diminished time and struggling not to buy anything new and fascinating.
