Photography is an important thread that has run through my life since childhood. My very first camera was a 35mm Boots Bierette, bought for me by my dad when I was 10, I then moved on to my first SLR, a Prinz branded Zenit B from Dixons, a High Street chain that UK readers of a certain age will remember. I own many cameras from different systems and formats and I carry one with me as often possible. Photography has proved to be a wonderful escape from a busy professional career in education, an antidote to a sometimes challenging work life. Indeed, image making, particularly on film, has proven to be a major mental health protective factor for me and I suspect many others.
