Roger Hicks

Roger Hicks is a Cornishman whose father was in the Royal Navy, so he moved a lot as a child. When he left school he had a choice of law school or art school, and chose the former on the grounds that you can always teach yourself photography. When he was 19 his girlfriend bought a Leica II, and when she kept asking for it back, he had to buy his own Leica III. He's been hooked on Leicas ever since, and is the author of numerous books on photography including A History of the 35mm Still Camera (The Focal Press) and Rangefinder (GMC Publications).
