Trip 35 and some very cheap film… and Connie.

By Hamish Gill

I ran a roll of Agfa vista plus 200 film through the trip recently. It was a roll of film I had been given and was told at the time that it was a poundshop £1 a roll film. A bit of digging about this film leads a quite a bit of confusion about its origin – Made in japan, sold under licence of the Agfa name by a company called ‘Lupus Imaging & Media’. One of the possibilities appears to be that it is a fuji derived film, I have to say, the colours do look fuji-like to my eye.
Here is a link to flickr where you can read what I have read http://www.flickr.com/groups/ishootfilm/discuss/72157627192445157/

One way or another, I’m actually quite impressed with the results, especially considering it’s box speed is 200iso and I shot with the trip set to 400iso.

Anyway, enough babbling, here are a selection of the results… You will have to excuse the almost constant barrage of photos of my daughter at the mo, I will endeavour to photograph something else soon! Can you blame me really though? 🙂

I was scrolling through the new makina 67 article when I came across this ten year old trip 35 article, so I clicked on it because it’s a camera I had as a kid and broke trying to release the shutter beyond the red flag. Dumb I know and dumber that I tossed the camera, but hey, I was about 13 and it was 1974. Those were junk store items back when junk stores were everywhere. Now my gas makes me want another trip 35 but not for what they’re going for.
Ok so I’m writing because I see you have never updated your profile thumbnail pic. Maybe it’s time? Maybe you won’t have your hand in your face? I know, it’s you being thoughtful, contemplative. Keep up the good work!

HA!! Honestly, I think so little of my avatar image, it simply hadn't entered my mind to change it. I have swapped it for a photo of me and two of my cats, just for you ;)

Mary, if the Trip does underexpose you would set the ASA to (say) 100, not 400.
Good luck with yours if you get one.
Steve.

Hi, firstly great set of photos. I am thinking about buying the trip 35 and i also have a lot of the agfa vista 200 bought from my local poundshop, so i am curious s why you pushed the iso to 400. I heard the trip has a tenancy to underexpose, is that the reason?. Thanks, Mary.

Hi Mary, I'm really sorry, this was too long ago for me to remember.
