NEWS: Kamerastore and Analogue Wonderland Partner to Bring Certified Vintage Film Camera Shop to UK Community

By Molly Kate

Analogue Wonderland is partnering with Kamerastore to bring Finland-based analogue camera expertise to the UK film community. Used and vintage cameras will be offered at Analogue Wonderland’s shop with the confidence of being backed by a certification system conducted by Kamerastore’s technical experts.

The Kamerastore team is well known in the film community for their technical knowledge of used and vintage cameras. They are linked to Camera Rescue which is a program working on teaching and sharing camera repair knowledge and keeping film cameras from going in the trash. Each second-hand camera for sale on Kamerastore’s site is checked, tested, and repaired if needed by a team member so buyers have confidence in picking out their new photographic tool. With the partnership between Kamerastore and Analogue Wonderland, the UK film community will now be able to enjoy this service closer to home.

For every camera offered for sale by Analogue Wonderland, Kamerastore will certify it with an “11-Point Health Check”. This check includes the following: overall appearance assessment, precision alignment testing for mirror focusing, shutter speed, and light meter calibration using era-relevant specialised machinery. Then, depending on the model of the camera, there might be specific things to check in addition but this is taken on a per-model basis.

If any issues are found with the camera, they will be repaired and re-certified in Kamerastore’s workshop, something that can take anywhere from two to eight hours per camera. For mild issues that can’t be fixed but don’t block photographers from using the camera to create images, these will be noted in the camera description so customers will know what to expect beforehand and are priced accordingly.

“We are passionate about providing users with great quality cameras – ones that just work for the user and make shooting film fun and rewarding, not frustrating. Combining the trust, punctuality, and reputation that Analogue Wonderland has rightly earned in the UK, with our checked, certified, and repaired cameras and lenses is, in my opinion, perhaps the most exciting thing to happen in the UK film community in years.” – Arild Edvard Båsmo from Kamerastore

Each camera comes with a 6-month warranty that covers electrical and mechanical failures that come about within the warranty period. Analogue Wonderland is starting with a small selection of cameras with plans to expand as time goes on depending on customer needs.

“I am unashamedly thrilled about this partnership; we have wanted to offer vintage cameras to customers for some time now but we could only make the step when we were confident that we could offer cameras in fantastic condition. No one enjoys the eBay roulette! This partnership with Kamerastore means that we are able to offer the film community the best of the best, sourced from across all of Europe.” – Paul McKay, Analogue Wonderland
