This is a digital pinhole photograph, which I took on the 26th of April in 2026. The last Sunday in April is since several years the World-wide-pinhole-day (WWPD). Photos taken on that day can be submitted till the end of June and usually about 1000 photos can be found in the gallery every year. There are photos taken on photographic paper, on film or with digital sensors. Many take photos with self made pinhole ‘cameras’, like cardboard boxes or beer/soda cans etc. I take part since several years and I guess I missed only one year, because I didn’t get my slide film back in time.
I saw these watering cans on my way home that day and it was the last pinhole photo I took that day. They stand on a pedestrian and bike path. There are small gardens to the left and a small stream of water to the right. I guess the person took water from there to water plants in the garden. I noticed the scene at the beginning of this path and took two photos while I got closer, because I was worried that somebody comes and takes the cans away.
I posted this third photo on the pinhole gallery, but I like it so much, that I also want to show it here. Just imagine what experiences the two might be exchanging.
A bit about the technical site. I use a lens holder named ‘Subjektiv’ with its pinhole inserted. It has an aperture of 180. The producer, or at least the website, doesn’t exist anymore and I didn’t find any offers on eBay and so I will describe it in a review and try to post it here as well. The lens holder can be connected via T2-adapters to any camera. You can’t see anything though the viewfinder of a film camera and you have to first attach a lens to frame the photo. The ‘Subjektiv’ has a 65mm focal length. I also purchased a camera body cap with a pinhole for my Zeiss ZM rangefinder camera to be faster and to also have wider angle of view. However, since I got my first digital camera I use it with my Nikon Z6, because of the convenience and my company doesn’t get bored. This photo was taken at 1/60 and at ISO 45600. There was no editing of the raw file for its conversion into a jpeg file. I should use the ‘Subjektiv’ and its pinhole more often.
