5 Frames With The Rollei XF35 and Agfa APX 400 – by Anil Mistry

By Anil Mistry

The Rollei XF 35 is a cute little automatic point and shoot rangefinder from the early 70’s. I bought it because it has a beautiful clean and stylish look, and I can’t resist a black rangefinder.

It’s very simple to use – just focus and shoot, and the camera does everything else for you. It’s easy to carry, unobtrusive to use and it has a 40mm f2.3 Sonnar lens – a great focal length for street photography. Because it’s so small, passers by don’t take it seriously- allowing you to get closer.

Max iso is 400, and max shutter speed is 1/650sec.

The rangefinder on these cameras are often misaligned so if buying one, do ask the vendor if it focuses properly before hitting that buy button. Mine works perfectly, and I use it a lot as it requires zero thought. And it looks cool.

Here’s 5 frames shot with Agfa APX 400.
