In this 96 page book, Jack Lueders-Booth explores the living conditions, the people, and the culture of settlements surrounding the municipal dumps of Tijuana, Mexico. In these dumpes, people live and survive surrounded by squalor and cast-offs. Life in poverty, sustained by the excesses of others.

Back in the early 1980s, in my 20s and in my formative photographic years, I read a lot of books about the craft and practice of photography. This obviously contributed enormously to my understanding of photography and my ability to use a manual camera and take well exposed photographs.
I bought and read beautiful old books about the zone system, toning, developer formulae, darkroom printing. And I kept going. Books about the decisive moment, composition, film stock, technique this, technique that… Lots of practical books. But no books of photographs (OK, maybe one or two… an Ansel Adams or two).
Now that the kickstarter campaign is live we wanted to take some time to share with you the talented artists and photographers being featured in the book. I am going to be putting together a series of articles, mostly in a bid to remind you all of the book, and the fact that whilst we are getting closer every day, we are yet to reach our funding goal.
In each article I’ll be sharing five of our contributors with you, telling you a little bit about their work and where you can see more. And of course, encouraging you to support our kickstarter campaign to get the book made!
Here lies a tale of perseverance and victory. You see I’m a self proclaimed ideas person, it’s on my CV and everything so it must be true. The unfortunate thing is I’m not so good at finishing any of these totally brilliant ideas before being distracted by yet more ideas, shiny things and squirrels.
