EVENT: #SheHeartsFilm and LensFayre Partner for a Nottingham Photo Walk Celebrating International Women’s Month

By Molly Kate

Celebrate International Women’s Month with the #SheHeartsFilm photowalk happening in Nottingham, UK on March 18, 2023, in partnership with LensFayre!

For photographers identifying as women and non-binary, the #SheHeartsFilm (SHF) photo walks have been a safe space to learn, make friends, and have fun with film photography since March 2021. All levels and abilities are welcome, the only thing you have to bring is a film camera!

The upcoming walk on the 18th will be held in collaboration with LensFayre near their recently renovated headquarters in Nottingham. LensFayre was started in early 2020 by co-founders Aleica and Dan to ‘reconnect with all the things that made us fall in love with the analogue photography process’. They created the fun reusable Snap LF-35MM camera for 35mm film and also refurbish and sell used film cameras. More than cameras though, LensFayre also aims to establish a platform where accessibility, diverse representation, and inclusivity are centre stage in their core values. (source: LensFayre website)

Starting the event day off with a brief talk at Blend Cafe, Aleica and Dan will share their tips on the basics of camera care. They are also offering several discounts for camera reskins and services to celebrate the day. Afterwards, the photowalk is planned to cover a few of Nottingham’s landmarks including the Creative Quarter, Lace Market, Nottingham Castle, street art hotspots and the famous canals and mills. A fitting end to the day will take place at a local brewery, Neon Raptor.

She Hearts Film, an initiative under Analogue Wonderland, works to highlight female and non-binary photographers, who are frequently under-represented by the photography industry. Many of these photographers can be found using the popular Instagram hashtag #Sheheartsfilm.

I 100% agree with Bob!
As a Dad oh a working professional (woman) illustrator, I am aware of the pitfalls & struggles of woman creatives.
We gotta pick a better time to visit the UK. This Yank would volunteer to be support staff if we were in the UK right now!
