Happy New Year! Our first news round-up of 2024 is a short one, but if you haven’t caught up yet, we have a few interesting articles from the past week. Kickstarter for Kolari Shades Launches Today: Sunglasses Made By Photographers For Photographers

Today, Kolari Vision is launching their Kickstarter for Kolari Shades, a set of sunglasses made by photographers, for photographers. Boldly claiming the new eye protection is the world’s sharpest, the Kolari team backs this statement up with Corning Gorilla glass, titanium frames, facial recognition technology blocks, and advanced IR and UV protection.

25th Anniversary of STRAIGHT 8 Goes Big on IMAX in 2024

This year is STRAIGHT 8’s 25th anniversary and the competition’s premiere is going big with a BFI (British Film Institute) IMAX premiere for the top 25 short films selected. Anyone can enter the competition with the chance of being featured not only at the BFI but also at the Cannes Film Festival.

BlackScale Lab Releases BlackBox 120 for Medium Format Film Scanning After 35mm Success

The BlackBox 120 is built to adapt to most digital cameras with interchangeable lenses by using a clever filter ring and height extension design. Except for a DSLR/mirrorless camera and lens, the BlackBox 120 kit includes everything needed to start scanning negatives.

Mint’s New 35mm Film Camera will use the Rollei Brand Name

We also saw on the interwebs a lovely poster from Mint letting us know they have secured the Rollei brand name for their new 35mm autofocus film camera. The camera will be called the Rollei 35AF and it’s coming in 2024. We cannot wait for this one! Sign up for Mint’s newsletter to stay updated here.
